Geeta's UFIT Journey: Overcoming Pain & Building Unstoppable Strength

Geeta never imagined she’d wake up one morning and be unable to walk. It was an ordinary Wednesday—she had gone to work feeling perfectly fine, taken a lunch break like any other day, and returned home as usual. But by the next morning, her body refused to cooperate. She couldn’t move.

At just 29 years old, Geeta found herself facing a daunting new reality. Her journey to reclaim her strength led her to UFIT in January, where she initially sought physiotherapy with Ian. The goal was simple: understand what was happening to her body. But what started as a search for physical recovery soon turned into a transformative journey—both physically and emotionally.

A History of Setbacks

Geeta had always been an active child. Growing up, she played football, basketball, and spent countless hours playing badminton with her father. But things changed in secondary school. A serious fall down the stairs in 2008 left her shaken, and a year later, after a routine cycling session with her family, she returned home with severe lower back pain. The pain was relentless, making it impossible to sleep or even move without discomfort. From that point on, her life took a downward turn.

Determined to regain control, she sought help from a physiotherapist to get to the root of her pain. But there was more to her suffering than just physical injury.

Breaking Through Emotional Barriers

When Geeta first walked into the gym, she carried more than just physical pain—she was weighed down by emotional struggles as well. The loss of her father had left her in a state of grief that she hadn’t fully processed. That grief manifested in her body, intensifying the pain and making her journey to recovery even more challenging.

That’s when she met Kiwi, her personal trainer. Starting in April, their one-on-one training sessions quickly became about more than just physical fitness. Kiwi didn’t just focus on exercises—she asked the deeper questions that helped Geeta uncover what was truly holding her back.

One particular moment stood out in Geeta’s journey. One day, overwhelmed by emotions, she approached Kiwi and said, “I don’t feel good. I think I need help. I’m drowning.”

Kiwi listened and encouraged her to seek professional support. When Geeta finally met with a doctor, she received a diagnosis: anxiety and depression, likely triggered by the loss of her father. For the first 15 minutes of that session, she couldn’t speak—she just cried. It was the lowest point of her life, but it was also the beginning of her climb back up.

Rebuilding Strength—Inside and Out

With her diagnosis in hand and a newfound determination to heal, Geeta and Kiwi adjusted their approach. It wasn’t just about fixing physical pain anymore; it was about addressing the emotional weight she had been carrying. They restructured her training program, focusing on regaining mobility, building strength, and restoring her confidence.

Over time, Geeta’s progress was undeniable:

  • She went from struggling to stand without pain to moving freely and confidently.
  • Her agility and speed improved, allowing her to run again.
  • She mastered rope skipping—something she never thought she’d be able to do pain-free.
  • She could complete a full 60-minute workout without feeling drained.
  • She progressed from being unable to perform a single-leg box squat to completing six in a row.

But the transformation wasn’t just physical. Kiwi noticed a shift in Geeta’s mindset. She walked into the gym with more confidence, carried herself with greater strength, and approached challenges with a new sense of resilience. She wasn’t just regaining her physical abilities—she was rebuilding her entire sense of self.

More Than Just Weight Loss—A Lifestyle Change

Geeta’s journey also shattered misconceptions about fitness. For her, getting stronger wasn’t about losing weight or burning body fat—it was about nourishment and fueling her body properly. She learned the importance of eating breakfast, incorporating protein into her diet, and lifting heavier to build muscle and resilience.

Strength isn’t just about what you see in the mirror. It’s about how you feel, how you move, and how you show up for yourself every single day.

A New Beginning

Looking back at where she started, Geeta is filled with gratitude. “I couldn’t have done it without her,” she says of Kiwi. “She’s done a fabulous job with me.”

From being unable to walk to conquering a 60-minute workout with ease, Geeta’s story is proof that with the right support, the right mindset, and the right trainer, transformation is possible. She didn’t just get stronger—she found herself again.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin, Geeta’s journey is a reminder that it’s never too late to take control of your health. With the right guidance, you too can break through your barriers and discover the strength that’s been inside you all along.
